Summary: Every year, a girls' trip is scheduled with my daughters and a few of their friends. This year was our first trip north to the lake/mountains. We chose this home due to its amazing views, lake access and back deck, which we spent the whole weekend on! We didn't feel like we were only two hours from home! The night temps and sky were amazing! Our first night we had trouble lighting and maintaining the new-looking gas grill. The housekeeper sent her "nephew" over to help and he was able to fix it while facetiming his girl who was crying on the other end for us all to hear. The home itself needs a deep clean and a facelift. Many cob webs and very unorganized kitchen. The drawers were full of random things just thrown in. Lots of clutter and the garage was a disaster. No organizaton at all. The potential for it to be a fantastic rental is there, but doesn't seem like it's a priority. As a former owner of STR, I know how much work it is and how important it is to have good help if owners are unable/willing to maintain the property. The icing on the cake was that we read in the home's manual that we were responsible for taking the trash to a local sanitation upon completion of our stay. I have NEVER had to do that nor would I expect my guests to do that. Isn't that why you have a housekeeper/manager? Shouldn't that be a part of the expense of staying there? And what a gross way to end the trip!Thank goodness for the laughs, beautiful water, sun and back deck tho.
